Still alive

I swear I'm still alive. I've just been very busy between work, moving, friends and school starting. I'll be writing a better post this week and hopefully I'll get back into my normal writing routine next week.

Still Alive

I swear that I'm still alive! Nothing has really happened this summer to report and I didn't want to bore anyone with my same exact routine day after day. I'm officially back in LA and I'm couch hopping until I can move into my new apartment next month. Of course, the weather is beautiful here. While the rest of the country is in the midst of a heat wave, it's 80 and perfect here. The weather can be a blessing and curse. It's really very nice but it gets old sometimes but I can't really complain right now!

I'm going to get back to writing more often on here because I have a feeling life is going to pick back up very soon. I hope everyone is having a great summer!

Happy Father's Day

So far, my summer at home has involved a whole lot of sitting around and doing nothing, thus the lack of posts. I literally do the same thing everyday: read, eat, watch TV, go running and take my little brother to soccer practice. It has been pretty nice weather the past week but, of course, on Father's Day it's raining cats and dogs.

Currently, my family is at church so I am watching The Devil Wears Prada. I've seen it way too many times but I love the movie. Something about it just makes me happy. It's really nice to have the house quiet and just watch a movie with the thunderstorm outside. When my family gets back, we are going to have an early dinner (steak and potatoes and fruit yum!) and chill for the rest of the day. Simple Father's Days are the best.

Since nothing interesting is going on in my life at the moment, I'd love any suggestions of things you'd like to see me write about!

Best Billboard Ever

We saw this on our way down through Southern Utah to Lake Powell and we had to stop and take a picture with the sign. The billboard itself is awesome but given that it's in a tiny (like 150 residents) town in the middle of nowhere Utah, aka super Mormon, makes it that much better.

The lake was really amazing. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth and I had a really great time. We stayed on a friends houseboat and boated, wakeboarded, tubed, swam, hiked and used the wave runners the whole week. I got really tan haha which was a goal of mine and ate way too much delicious food. Overall, it was a nice, relaxing, fun-filled week down at the lake and as soon as my friends load the pictures on facebook, I'lll be sure to post some to show the beauty of the lake.

Nothing to do

Holy shit, I am bored. I am waiting on my neighbor to get me a job so I literally just sit at home all day. I do chores and workout and lay outside and that's all. I'm the kind of person that can't just stay still and enjoy down time. I have to be busy or else I go crazy and that's why I want a summer job so bad. I'm going to Lake Powell this weekend so that will be fun. Hopefully when I return, I'll have a full time job and my summer will fly by because I miss my bf and want to get back to LA.

I'm also looking to read a lot this summer so I'd love suggestions on any great books!

And I'm back

New York was pretty amazing. We didn't get to do any of the typical touristy things but I still had a great time. I went with my boyfriend and we stayed with his friend and essentially spent the weekend like a regular New Yorker. Getting there was such a hassle, my flights (3!) got canceled while in DC and I had to take a cab from Dulles to DC and then a 5 hour bus from DC to NYC at 5am, but when I got into the city, it was great. We went to the roof of the apartment building and watched the sunrise. Even though I was tired and stressed, the sunrise with my bf made everything better.

We went to a few bars on the Lower East Side and SoHo and had some fantastic food! Food was probably my favorite part of the trip haha On Saturday, we went to brunch with unlimited drinks and a drag show. Since Saturday was the supposed "end of the world," all the music was themed as if the world was ending. It was really cool to just sit for a few hours, drink and talk with friends.

The one touristy thing we did was to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. The entire weekend was rainy so we didn't have the best views but it was still really cool. It was the only time my bf and I were alone so it was our own mini-date. The one bummer was when we lost our friend because his phone died and we were stranded on the LES but it ended up being a good time. We found a small, random bar and stayed there for a few hours. We just talked and really enjoyed our time together.

Overall, I loved the city. I want to go back, again, and do all of the touristy things. Hopefully the weather will be better next time! Now I'm back in SLC searching for a job, which is very hard because nobody wants to hire for only 2 months. I'm going to Lake Powell next weekend so that's something to look forward to. It's one of my favorite places on earth so that will be an awesome trip. It's perfect to just boat, wake board, swim and tan.

Vegas and home

Sorry for the delay between posts. It's been a crazy week. Besides the boring packing and cleaning, I left LA on Saturday and went to Vegas. I haven't been to Vegas since I turned 21 so I was very excited to go, even if it was only for 1 night. We stayed at the Aria in the suites and wow, our room was beyond amazing. The views were fantastic, 52nd floor, and the bathroom was beyond epic haha

View from the room

We started drinking the second we arrived then walked around the Strip for a bit before getting dinner and getting ready for the night. We made our way over to the Mirage to meet another group of friends, drank some more and took some limos to the club XS. The line to get in the club wasn't that bad and for some odd reason, the bouncer let us cut in line and pay a lower cover than everyone else. Hooray for having hot girls in the group! The club was...epic. It was inside and outside, with a pool, and we all had a really great time. The dance floor was really packed so we decided to dance in the pool, shallow end of course, and it was the best decision we made all night!

Outside pool at XS

We got back to our hotel at 5am and slept til 10am and then left. My friends drove back to LA and I drove, alone, to Salt Lake City. I was really tired but it wasn't that bad of a drive, besides the wind. Overall, I had a great time on my mini-vacation. Definitely worth taking a trip out to Vegas, especially if you have never been before.

Now, I'm eating delicious chinese food and watching Family Guy. I leave for New York on Thursday and I'm beyond excited for that trip! I'll be sure to update when I get back.

Sigh of relief

Like I said, I'm done with school. It's awesome but it feels weird to not have homework in the back of my mind. Can't complain about that though! Now I just have a few more days of work then I'm headed home, to Utah, for the summer. I have mixed feelings about going home. It'll be nice to see my family but I just wish I could be in LA or NYC or somewhere working. Oh well.

Anyways, the next two weeks are going to be pretty amazing. I'm going to Vegas this coming weekend and NYC the weekend after that. I'm stoked. Both are going to be crazy, especially Vegas haha, and I'll be sure to take plenty of pics. It'll be a great way to start my Senior summer.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day today. It's times like these that I am sad I don't live closer to home so I can have family dinner but I'll be home in a week so it's all chill.

I'm a Senior!

My excitement
These past couple of weeks have been insane and I haven't really had the chance to post in a while but it's all been worth it because I'M DONE WITH SCHOOL AND I'M A COLLEGE SENIOR! Oh, and the Lakers lost so today is essentially the greatest day ever (only partially kidding)!

In other news, I'm going to be in NYC in two weeks and I need a suggestion for something to do when I get in on Thursday afternoon. I'll have from about 4-7pm free and I have no idea what to do so any suggestions would be awesome! I also would love food and bar recommendations. Pretty much anything you guys think I should check out. These next two weeks better fly by because I'm impatient like no other and I just want to be on vacation haha

Busiest. Week. Ever

Sorry for not posting in a few days. This has probably been the busiest week of my life and it's still going. I'm just woke up from a nap but I'm going right back to sleep (I've had 12 hours combined since Saturday night) but I had to post this because it's pretty much the best thing in the entire world...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 trailer

Watch it this instance, it'll change your life.

I'm hoping to be a better poster come this weekend when I finish all my writing assignments. Then I'll be a freaking college senior. That's weird to think about but also something that I've wanted for a very, very long time. Off to sleep with the aid of nyquil...

Da club

It's rather late and I'm really, really tired but I can't sleep. Isn't it weird that when you're the most tired you can't sleep? Well I went to the club/bar tonight. I don't like going to this particular club, Tigerheat, but my friend wanted to go so I went along. The night started off pretty damn bad: this kid's car got towed, the freeway was closed, I got separated from my friends in line and when I finally got in, the dance floor was closed. I was about to call it a night but I got in to the dance floor and found my friends. From there it was a blast. I finally mustered up the courage to ask a guy to dance and I had a great time. If you couldn't tell from my music selections, I love dance music and I love to dance. The music was pretty good tonight and I danced the night away. I started dancing with one guy but he went to UCLA and when he found out I went to USC he got all weird and walked away. I didn't know rivalries were so prolific in the gay community haha After that I was dancing with my friends when a cute guy started dancing next to us so I asked him to dance and we ended up dancing/making out the rest of the night. I've never made out with a random guy at a club or bar so it was a new experience for me and it was pretty fun! Anyways, I should get to bed. I need to get up in a few hours for work and I get really bitchy if I don't get enough sleep haha I'll update y'all tomorrow.

GLAAD Awards

2 of my designs for class. The blue is layered squares and is much cooler in person

Yesterday I got to attend the GLAAD Media Awards here in LA and it was actually really awesome. I helped set up the auction stuff and helped run the Live Auction during the show. Out of the 5 prizes auctioned 2 of the winners were mine and they donated $24,000! I was happy haha Besides that I watched the red carpet (it was actually blue carpet) and people watched. I'm not really that into celebrities but it was cool to see them and how everyone went crazy when certain actors/actresses came into the room.

The tickets to the show are pretty expensive and I imagine the crowd to be full of older, wealthy gays and lesbians but I was so wrong. The crowd was actually pretty damn hot! On the red carpet I was half watching the celebs and half watching all the "normal" guys in the room. I felt weird just standing alone but I didn't really care which is totally not me usually I am with friends. Overall it was a really good experience. I met people who worked in the advertising industry and networked a bit and for one Sunday afternoon, I feel like I was a successful working guy having a great time.

P.S. For my design class I have to redesign the album cover of any band. If you have any suggestions of albums that you don't think reflect the tone of the musician or album I'd love to hear!

Lakers lost, Jazz won

I always love when the Lakers lose especially when it's to the Jazz! The Lakers are the only team that I actually want to lose games. I walked in the door, from class, and my roommate immediately told me how much he hates the Jazz. It's the only sports thing we disagree on, we are pretty compatible on everything else.

Anyways, I went to the doctor today and it turns out I don't have the flu! It's bronchitis haha Every year I get either pheumonia or bronchitis so I'm used to it but it's still not fun. She gave me antibiotics and cough pills and if you chew the cough pills they will make your mouth go numb. Strange side effect for a cough medicine. I stayed home from my internship today less out of feeling sick but it's pretty embarrassing to cough every 5 seconds and have everyone stare at you while your typing. I slept til 12 then went to the doctors then class. Right before class I remembered that I had forgotten to eat today. I never forget to eat so it was kinda weird but I rushed to Subway after class and had a delicious Italian BMT.

I'm in the midst of planning a trip to NYC after school ends in May. I've never been there before so I'm really really excited! If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear any and everything you have to say. I plan to move there after graduation so I figure I need to visit at least once before I move there haha I just need to convince my parents to pay for the flight and I'll be all set.

100th post!

I'm finally feeling better. I've had the flu for the past week and it pretty much knocked me on my ass. I really can't believe that it's my 100th post! I've been writing on here since last June and it's really been great to express myself and hear what you all have had to say. I really appreciate all of your comments and reads and I hope to only grow from here.

For this special post I wanted to write about a conference I attended on Wednesday. One of the speakers runs the blog Tiny Buddha and gave some really awesome tips on how to write. I took special interest in her pointers because I want to connect more with the readers on this blog and I want to work at a magazine after college. Here are her three tips for writing a more personal blog:

1. Share yourself authentically. Up until this point I have mainly been summarizing my everyday life, which is fine, but I'd really like to dig deep and reveal what I'm thinking and make what I have to say unique. A person leads a community and I want to be that leader.

2. Release your need to control the conversation. Instead of controlling what people are saying, introduce the subject and let things flow from there. Too often writers try to steer their writings in certain ways that only they can understand or appreciate. I want to write something and let you all decide how to interpret things.

3. Focus on providing value rather than growth. So far I've been chronicling my growth through college and defining myself as an adult and a gay man. I will still definitely focus on growth but I also want to write on what these discoveries mean to me. Instead of simply recapping what is happening, I'd like to explain how I am using my experiences to grow and ultimately define myself.

I also had the pleasure of listening to Hank Wasiak, co-founder of The Concept Farm, and he had three inspiring quotes that I want to strive to live my life by. They are simple yet can make profound differences in how you manage yourself.

"Forget perfection, pursue progress."
"Admire openly and often. Who is on your Mt. Rushmore?"
"Find your mighty cause."

Too often I find myself striving only for perfection and I am disappointed when I can't achieve it. Dreaming of perfection is great but I want to focus my attention on progress and how I am growing and how to continue to positively progress through life.

I thought this post, being my 100th, was the perfect place to make a few changes in how I write. I am going to try to implement these new ideas into my writing and hopefully I'll be able to truly connect on a new level with you all and all of you will get a better understanding of who I am.

Gaydar

I don't know if I've mentioned this before but I have an incredibly horrible gaydar. Besides the obviously gay guys, I can never tell who is gay or straight and last night was no different. We were at a restaurant with a group of friends and our waiter was pretty cute. He acted straight so I didn't think anything of it until I asked him a question and he put his hand on my back and leaned in to tell me where the bathroom was. I thought he was just doing it because it was a bit noisy but all of my friends stared at me and said the waiter was hitting on me. I didn't really think anything of it but maybe he was? It's instances like these that I wish everybody had a little TV above their head that displayed who that person is and what they want.

After dinner we went to The Frolic Room for drinks. We had never been there but it sounded interesting so we checked it out. Little did we know that it was about the size of my bedroom and we were the youngest in the bar by 20 years haha We went next door to this really cool Irish pub and had a great time. It was a huge area with good music and plenty of tables, a big ass bar and some games.

When we got back we were will pretty drunk so we proceded to try and do the shuffle from the new LMFAO music video. Let me tell you, it was really freaking hard! We had a blast though and it was a great way to end the night. Thank god my friends are finally 21 so we can go out and enjoy!

Running again

I am in love

I started running again yesterday and holy shit are my legs sore today. I hurt my knee back in November and it's just starting to feel better so I decided to do a short run. I actually like being sore though. It makes me feel like I accomplished something.

In other news, nothing has been going on lately haha I went to a super hipster gastropub last night, Würstkuche, in Little Tokyo. It was actually pretty cool, had a great atmosphere and a huge selection of beers! Hipster guys are very confusing. I can never tell if they are gay or just really hipster. It's an eternal confusion.

Anyways, I know this is a lame post but I have to get ready for tonight. It's Cat Lady's birthday (she doesn't like that name so I've changed it to Beth) and we are going to dinner then some bars after. Should be a really fun night.

Spring Break

Well it's officially spring break and I'm sitting at home watching a movie and doing homework. Total fail to start my mini-vacation but it'll get better. I went to the beach yesterday which was nice then drank a bit and chilled with a friend (we will call her Cat Lady for now on). This week is pretty much work and beach everyday. Not too shabby. Plus a possible trip to Six Flags and I think this'll be a nifty spring break.

Alright I have to get up fairly early so I'm going to head to bed.

Living in LA

This is a great article from another blog I happened to stumble upon. It pretty much sums up everything there is to know about living here and it's exactly how I feel about this city.

It's amazingly warm and beautiful today so I'm going to spend most of it outside!

Mardi Gras and Lent

HAHAHAHA
Well I hope everyone had a great Fat Tuesday. Mine was full of nothing at all. I'm celebrating by going to bed at 11pm! Woooo. Now I'm not really a religious person but I generally try to give up/improve on a few things for Lent every year. I never do anything crazy drastic but things that will improve my life so here are the 5 things I'm giving up/improving on this year:

  1. Being lazy.
  2. Being messy.
  3. Wake up at 6am Monday-Thursday and 9pm Friday-Sunday.
  4. Workout everyday.
  5. No fast food.
Number 1 and 5 aren't that big of a problem now but I'd still like to improve on them. My living room is a mess with all of my art crap laying everywhere and my laundry is in some dire need of help but waking up at 6am is going to be the hardest. By far the hardest.

Does anyone else do stuff for Lent?

Coke and Rum

That was definitely my drink of choice this weekend and thus the weekend was pretty awesome. Friday night was drinking and people watching at a strange theatre party (by far the best parties to people watch) and Saturday was my friend's birthday so we went sake bombing and out to our friend's house in Santa Monica. Overall it was a worthy weekend to pre-game Spring Break on Friday!! I also decided to give myself a henna tattoo, temporary, on my rib cage to see what it looked like. I like it for the most part. I designed it myself and it's two overlapping triangles with a thunderbolt. Hopefully it'll look good as I tan over break haha

I think I've had a mild case of food poisoning since Thursday which hasn't been that fun. It hasn't stopped me from going out but my stomach hurts when I wake up and go to bed, odd. Hopefully it's all gone so that I can enjoy this week. Nothing really special is happening for the next while but I don't have much homework so that's always nice.

Boredom

I came to the conclusion this weekend that I get bored insanely fast. Not just boredom from TV or homework but I get bored with guys too quickly.  I don't know if it's because I haven't met a guy that I really like or if I'm just a douche but I average lifespan of my interest in a guy is about 3 weeks. After that, I just lose interest. Does this happen with anybody else?

On a brighter note, spring break is less than 2 weeks away! I can't wait for some rest and a break from the craziness of homework. Hooray for the beach and actually getting a tan ha Alright I have to study for two midterms this week.

Angels in America

I just started watching the tv series of Angels in America and it's actually really really good. Acting is amazing and the story is so well written. I've just been watching it on youtube (watch here) and it's good quality and free! haha

Yesterday was slightly random but overall awesome. I had to interview new RA candidates for 6 hours then I wrote a 9 page paper then I went out to dance marathon with my friends. Overall it was a good night. Now I'm still laying in bed and really need to get up and study haha Sundays are just so damn lazy

Simple pleasures

The past couple of nights have been very relaxed and simply perfect. On Wednesday, my roommate and I watched the first Lord of the Rings. I really do love that series and it was a great way to relax with no homework. Last night was pretty much the same. I learned how to salsa dance (well the basics haha) and it was so much fun. It's such an intimate dance. Then after that I just watched TV all night and hung out with my friend I haven't seen in awhile. I'm a total dork but I love the show Greek. I thought they had cancelled it but learned that new episodes had started back in January so I caught up on all recent episodes this week haha And of course I watched 30 Rock this morning and sent my friend a quote from it.

I gotta run and get ready for work but I'll try and do another post later today.

Wet Butt

That was pretty much my theme for yesterday. It has been raining this weekend and yesterday when I was working and after work my butt managed to get soaked every time I went outside. I texted my friend about it and he just laughed and thought it was hot. I can tell you now, it wasn't haha It was rather uncomfortable but when I got home I changed into sweats and was all good.

I went to the library today which is always a blast! *overflowing with sarcasm* Tonight I'm going to a few art gallery openings, grabbing dinner with friends and going to a concert. I've never been to a gallery opening but I have to go for class so I'm dragging my friends along haha It'll be such a hipster night. I just can't wait to people watch all night. So many prime opportunities for people to be weird. Alright time for a shower and heading out.

My own room

I am finally getting my own room next semester and HOLY SHIT am I excited haha Seriously, I haven't had my own room since living at home and I'm beyond ready. It's a little pricey but sosososo worth it. I have the master bedroom so there will be plenty of room for all my crap. I'm bringing my big nice bed from home so two guys can comfortably fit on my bed! It was rainy and cold today so that was kinda lame. Plus I have had a stomach ache all day and those three things together means I've been lazy today which is sometimes nice just to take a day off.

I want to recommend checking out a new blog Group Therapy. Stefan is another college guy and has some good posts so go check him out.

OK so today is when I make up for all my lack of music posts with a whole bunch of stuff. Get ready for some seriously dankalicious music...Also, I love music suggestions myself so send them along!

Things I Love

As I've mentioned, I don't have a valentines date this year but I'm all for that. So this post isn't about romantic love but rather 10 things I love. I'm a very random person, for the better or worse, so my interests range drastically but every one of them makes life that much better. So here it goes...

  1. Food: I mean was there any doubt that food wouldn't be number 1? haha but it's much more than just the taste or being full. It's the memories that come with it and how comforting eating can be. I'm definitely a stressed-out eater. Whenever I'm not doing so well I turn to my kitchen. Something about cooking and then eating chills me out and helps me focus on the good.
  2. Family and friends: Some people will differentiate between family and friends but, for me, they are one in the same. I love my family. We fight and annoy each other but at the end of the day, they are always there for me and are so supportive. I have never and will never meet someone that works as hard as my mom has her whole life. Yeah it may seem like my life is pretty good but it's all because of my mom. Same goes for my friends. I can talk to them about anything and we always have a good time. Both at home and at school, my friends are pretty much amazing.
  3. Music: It can put me in any mood that I want and really can help regulate my thinking. The beats, lyrics and vibe all work so well together and always seem to be exactly what I need. Nothing is better than going to a live show and really feeling the music flow through you. I am always down for a watching live music especially amateurs.
  4. Sleeping in a cold room with warm blankets: Pretty much explains itself. I don't know why but I love it. I love to cuddle just not when I'm sleeping haha I'm more of a fall-asleep-and-wake-up-cuddling-but-leave-me-alone-while-I-sleep kind of guy. I also ALWAYS have to sleep with two pillows. It's a must or I can't get to sleep.
  5. Dogs: Love 'em. Simple as that
  6. Passionate and motivated guys: Yes I do want to be physically attracted to a guy but I'm more into personality. I love it when a guy's smile will light up a room because he's talking about something he is truly passionate about. So attractive
  7. Competition: If you've ever met me, you know I'm very competitive. Sometimes it gets a little too much but it's what drives us. That's why I like sports so much. Athletes need to win and that drive is so intoxicating to watch and play. We compete in school, work, friends, love and everything in life. It's essential
  8. Learning: Yeah doing homework pretty much sucks but what you learn from it is very much worth it. I love reading books and newspapers. listening to professionals and learning about something yourself. It's so fascinating and a lifelong passion of mine.
  9. Writing with fancy pens: It's on my facebook and thus it's important haha I have about 30 pens and I am very particular about which ones I use for certain situations. Yes it's weird but I'm a neat freak when it comes to handwriting plus everyone says my writing looks like computer print.
  10. Nature: Camping, hiking, swimming, snowboarding and every other outdoor activity, I love. The world is so beautiful but we tend to forget to go outside and enjoy it sometimes. If I can't be outside, I tend to be looking at pictures of nature or researching the outdoors. Laying outside at night and looking at the stars (impossible in LA) is one of the most magnificent things in the world I must say.
I could go on but I'll stop there for now. I really do hope that everyone has a great Valentine's Day tomorrow even if you don't have a date!

Beds = Pleasure

Wow I forgot what a good nights rest will do for you. I finally got to sleep in today and oh boy did it make a world of difference. I was kinda in a bad mood yesterday but everything is pretty solid now. I've made it a Friday ritual to wake up at 10:30am and watch last nights episode of 30 Rock then I put a quote on my friend's facebook wall. Corny, I know, but it's what we do haha It was a really funny episode, I highly highly recommend watching the show. Seriously, watch every episode!

All I have today is 5 hours of work then I'm a free man for the weekend. I'm sure a mixture of drinking, friends and making a fool of myself will ensue but I'll have it no other way. I don't have too much homework, finally!, so hopefully it'll be a nice relaxing break which I plan on spending in bed. If only I had my dogs to cuddle with I'd be set!

I also find it funny that the two trending topics on my facebook newsfeed are: Gaga's new song Born This Way and Mubarak's resignation. I mean they're both crazy but still...haha

Dun, dun, dun...Valentine's Day

The dreaded day that is Valentine's is quickly approaching us and let's be serious, I don't want a date. So many people (gay and straight) get hung up on finding a date for V-day but why? I'm all for and really do enjoy celebrating love but if you don't have someone then don't go all crazy trying to find a date for one day. There is a V-day party this weekend where a lot of single gays will be and I kinda want to go not to hook up but to watch and see how desperate people are to find dates or make out haha Sounds rude, I know, but I just think desperation is a turn-off.

On another note, I'm in the midst of finalizing housing for next year and it's such a bitch! I try not to swear on here but it really is. I'm an RA this year but it sucks so much that I'm just going to live with friends next year. Seriously, being an RA is one of the worst decisions I've made in my entire life. I've met some cool friends on our staff but besides that it's been really stressful and not worth the money.

I haven't really gotten any sleep this week so I'm pretty excited to get to sleep early tonight and sleep in tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be in a better mood tomorrow so that I can have a good weekend! Oh and how cheesy was Glee on Tuesday? It's usually cheesy but this week was beyond crazy haha but the episode on Sunday was awesome! On a side note, I'm really going to miss Jerry Sloan as the Utah Jazz coach. He's pretty much amazeballs.

Mini vacations

Sorry for the long break between posts, I've been so insanely busy lately but this weekend I went up to Santa Barbara for a retreat. We "camped" in cabins and trained and had a blast. It's so easy to forget just how beautiful southern California really is by living in the city. Once you leave the city, however, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Driving up the Pacific Coast is awe inspiring and was the perfect start to my Sunday. Of course today is Super Bowl sunday so that'll begin in a few hours (with delicious mexican food) and I also need to do some painting and reading today.

Besides school/work, absolutely nothing has been going on in my life lately, which is actually so nice. I feel like I'm always reaching for things that I want but don't necessarily need. I haven't been chasing my wants lately, focusing on my needs and I can definitely tell it's a much better way of life. My grades are rockin, work/internship going smoothly and I'm just enjoying life. I recommend trying it sometime.

Weirdos

I have decided that I attract weirdos, well at least for the most part. I mean, yeah, they are pretty good looking but still, weirdos haha I don't really know what happened but I'm totally not in the mood to be dating anybody right now. I like going on dates and hanging out but I'm just not in the right place to be with anyone at this time. I'm super busy but I really enjoy being busy. It pushes me and makes me really focus, which I really need because I lose focus extremely fast. Maybe that's why I generally can't be with a guy for very long, I lose focus (and probably interest?) too quickly to develop anything meaningful. I'll ponder over it for a while and see what I come up with.

Besides that, this week has been pretty bland. The usual work and school has been tiring but I still want to go out and have some fun with my friends tonight. I'll just have to drink some caffeine to stay awake haha I fell asleep in my 4 person class this week...whoops! The super-hot quarterback guy just stared at me as I kept nodding my head and fell asleep haha I really should do some homework before I go out tonight so I'm off to that...

(_____) at First Sight

We all know the saying "love at first sight" but I wonder, is it really love? Or is it that instant crush, that lust for a person because lets be serious, nobody falls in love with someone from just looking at them. However perfect a person may look, we all know there are some serious crazies out there. I'm not really talking about anything in my life but I was just pondering the idea today at work. While researching South Florida, DC and LA and their gay scenes, pictures of cute couples kept popping up on the various websites. It got me thinking, are these sites/groups/clubs/organizations advertising friendship, love or lust? Of course they don't say most of the times but it's still interesting to think about.

Anyways, this week is been pretty crazy. I started my new internship today, which was pretty cool, and I've had a big painting assignment due. I'm not a painter at all so it was particularly frustrating to paint perfect lines but I got through it and it looks pretty good. I'm just excited for the weekend already and it's only Tuesday haha I hope to get back to posting on a regular basis not that my schedule has finally been hammered out so hopefully once a day or two.

Good Day

Today is such a great, no amazing, day! My classes were easy, the same really hot quarterback (he was in my class last semester) is in my german class, I got my internship I wanted and my mom is coming right now with my car!

Last week I interviewed with GLAAD (gay, lesbian alliance against defamation) to be their Regional Events intern and I got called today and was offered the position. It's my first official internship so I'm pretty excited. The office is nice and has beautiful views of Hollywood, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Essentially the pretty parts of LA haha

My family drove down today for a few days in Disneyland and my mom is driving my car up here to drop off tonight. Needless to say, I'm damn ready to have a car haha I'm going to disneyland on friday so that'll be really fun. I'll be sure to post some pictures of the day. My roommate and I scrubbed down our apartment today so my mom won't thing I'm a slob. In reality our place is pretty clean for two college guys but my mom owns a cleaning business so she's a neat freak. But alas I have to finish up some dishes before she gets here so I'm off.

Music Festivals

So the Coachella lineup officially came out today. I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda bummed by it. After last years I was expecting something fantastically amazing. This years will be pretty rockin but, in my opinion, just not the same caliber as last years. For all of you who don't know what Coachella is, it's a huge 3-day music festival near Palm Springs, CA in April that features the biggest musical acts in the world. No showers, lots of alcohol/drugs and wonderful music. Now I'm not the biggest proponent of drugs but if you've ever been to an event like this, you'd know just how "wonderful" the whole thing can be haha People are just so chill and relaxed. Good time to get some sun, listen to tunes and meet new people.

Anyways, I'm probably not going this year. Unless someone wants to give me about $500 :) haha It really would be fun just to go but it's really expensive and I don't feel like saving my money haha Facebook is going crazy right now with all the status updates about the festival so it's pretty funny to read them all.

My friends and I are also trying to plan a 4-5 day spring break cruise leaving from Los Angeles and I have absolutely no idea how to look for these things so if anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'm totally open for them!

Typical Day

So it's finally the weekend! I couldn't be more excited to just relax. This week was pretty hectic with school, work and friends. I got into the German class I wanted so hopefully it will be great. I also had an interview for an internship yesterday so hopefully I'll hear back soon from them! I figured I would give a rundown of a typical Monday for me:
   8am: wake up, shower, breakfast
   9-12pm: Design Fundamentals
   12-2pm: lunch
   2-3:20pm: German
   3:30-5pm: Writing class
   5-7pm: dinner
   7-8:30pm: RA staff meeting
   8:30-10pm: homework
   11pm: bedtime

Monday is probably the busiest day for me. I like being busy though, it helps me stay on task and get my shit done. I hope everyone is having a wonderful long MLK weekend because I sure know I am! I don't have school until Tuesday at 6:45pm haha long weekend FTW!! Well I'm off to go outside and shop and get lunch. It's currently 84 degrees here so it's FANTASTIC and I must simply go outside.

Busyyy

Sorry the posts, or lack thereof, have been so lame. I've been crazy busy moving back to school, starting school, working and other stuffage. As soon as I get time I'll do an awesome post to make up for my recent lameness!

Suggestions

First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years. Mine was completely uneventful haha Since it's the new year, I figured I'd ask if anyone wanted to hear anything specific from me? I'm going to do a video post tomorrow! I was going to do it today but I had to take care of my little brother today. He's 8 and has the flu or something, not fun. So yeah, just let me know if you have any topics you want me to cover!
